Coaching

Coaching

The East Sandringham Junior Football Club is fortunate to have a team of highly passionate coaches, assistants, and runners lead our young Zebbies; many of whom have impressive experience at AFL and VFL level. All of our coaches are required to hold current coaching certification and a valid WWCC. All mandatory training is made available either by the SMJFY, AFL or ESJFC.

For the 2026 season we are still requiring coaches for an U11 Girls team and potentially also an U8 Girls team. No coaching experience is needed as all training and support is provided. If you are interested in coaching, or being an assistant, please contact Ant McCabe on president@gozebs.com.

Coach the Coaches Philosophy

We are an all-inclusive family club, we would love for all parents to get involved, have fun and learn about footy with their kids. To ensure that all the kids get as much as they can out off training and on game day, our philosophy is to assist / coach the coaches, the assistant coaches and all the parent helpers so they all can improve their knowledge of training drills and game day logistics. Therefore, whoever is coaching or helping the kids are assured they have knowledgeable and well-resourced mentors.

To assist development we encourage all coaches, assistant coaches and parents to attend the ‘Coach the Coaches’ sessions which commence prior to the season and then another 2 sessions throughout the season.

Plus our Director of Football, Damien Lynch is always available to assist anyone plus he rotates around training nights and matches to provide further guidance and assistance.

The East Sandringham Junior Football Club are still welcoming players across many age groups for the 2026 season; especially U11 girls and U15 girls. No football experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and a desire to have fun.
