Scope of operations
The ESJFC is affiliated with the Moorabbin Saints Junior Football League (MSJFL) and provides junior teams ranging (dependent on demand) from Under 17, Under 16, Under 15, Under 14, Under 13, Under 12, Under 11, Under 10, Under 9 and Auskick (5-8 year olds).
The Club is based at Chisholm Reserve, Duncan Street Sandringham, with home games also played at Old Brighton's ground in South Road Brighton and Hampton's Peterson Street Reserve in Hampton.
The club has approximately 350 footballers playing each year with a further 160 participating in Auskick under the AFL Program.
Girls are particularly welcome and whilst the club has girls regularly participating in Auskick there is no dedicated female underage team at present. Such a development would be warmly welcomed in the future.
Zebbies Theme Song
Oh we're from SANDRINGHAM
A fighting fury
We're from Sandringham
In any weather you can see us with a grin
risking head and shin
when we're behind, well never mind,
we'll fight and fight to win.
Oh we're from SANDRINGHAM
We'll never weaken till the final siren goes
we're like the zebras of old,
we're strong and we're bold
Oh we're from Sandy, Yellow and Black!
Oh we're from Sandringham.
Club History
The ESJFC was originally formed in 1946 (as the East Sandringham Boys Club) at the Duncan Street ground with a cricket team. In 1948 the first football team was fielded in the Under 18 age group. Whilst the club has been predominantly focussed on junior football, in 1972 an open age team was established which was discontinued after only 3 years. Since that time the club has remained focused on junior football and that continues to be the current direction.
In 1973 the timber clubrooms were burnt down and council built the current brick rooms at Chisholm Reserve. Further extensions were carried out to the southern end of the rooms in the late 1980's to cater for a surge in growth at the time. These extensions were carried out as collaboration between the then 'Sandringham Council' and our club.
